Sri Lanka Registered their sixth consecutive Test Match win at Home

Sri Lankan registered a convincing 259-run win over Bangladesh, in 1st Test of the Two match series, at the Galle on Saturday.  Sri Lankan Captain Rangana Herath won the coin toss, and elected to bat first

Sri Lankan top order unable to give them a good start. However Sri Lankan middle order batsman repaired their first Innings. Asela Gunaratne and Kusal Mendis made 196 runs partnership for the 4th wicket. Asela Gunaratne made 85 runs. Following of that huge partnership Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis added 110 runs for the 5th wicket. Niroshan Dickwella scored 75 runs in 76 balls. For Sri Lanka it was Kusal Mendis who was the top scorer with 194 runs. Dilruwan Perera contributed with good 51 runs. However Sri Lanka manage to score 494 runs in their 1st Innings.

In reply that Bangladesh bowled out for 312 after a solid 118 runs opening partnership. Both Bangladeshi opening batsman batted beautifully. Tamim Iqbal scored 57 and Soumya Sarkar  scored 71 runs. Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored gritty 85 runs and was well supported by Mehedi Hasan, who scored 41 runs. While in the bowling department Dilruwan Perera and Rangana Herath claimed three – wickets each.

Sri Lanka started their 2nd Innings with 182 runs lead. Sri Lankan were off to a steady start with the openers contributing 69 opening runs, before Dimuth Karunaratne fell for 32 runs. Sri Lankan try to score some quick runs. However Upul Tharanga made his 3rd Test hundred and scored 115 runs. Sri Lankan skipper Rangana Herath decided to declared the Innings following of dismissal of Dilruwan Perera, who scored 33 runs in 27 balls. Sri Lanka made 274 runs for lost of 6 wickets. Dinesh Chandimal scored unbeaten 50 runs in 2nd Innings.

Bangladesh came out to chassed 457 runs to win. Once again their openers made solid 67 runs opening partnership. However Bangladesh middle order collapsed and they bowled out for 197 runs. For Bangladesh, It was Soumya Sarkar who was the top scorer with 53 runs. Rangana Herath was brilliant once again. He took 6 wickets for 59 runs.
