Harshitha Samarawickrama’s unbeaten 48 and a three-wicket haul from 17-year-old Chamudi Praboda helped defending champions Sri Lanka secure a four-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the 10th match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai on Sunday.

Sri Lanka Women booked their place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 after successfully chasing down Bangladesh’s target of 115 runs with four wickets in hand.

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and elected to bowl first, putting Bangladesh into bat.

Bangladesh Post 114/8

Bangladesh struggled to build a big total against a disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack and finished their 20 overs on 114 for 8.

Sobhana Mostary was Bangladesh’s leading scorer with 34 runs, while Dilara Akter contributed 26.
For Sri Lanka, teenage seamer Chamudi Praboda produced an impressive performance, claiming three wickets. Sugandika Kumari also played an important role with two wickets as Sri Lanka restricted Bangladesh to a manageable total.

Harshitha Leads Sri Lanka to Victory

Sri Lanka’s chase got off to a shaky start as their top-order batters struggled to settle and Bangladesh made regular breakthroughs.

However, Harshitha Samarawickrama held the innings together with a crucial unbeaten 48 runs.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Harshitha remained composed and guided Sri Lanka towards the target.

Bangladesh bowler Marufa Akter was the pick of their attack, taking three wickets, but Sri Lanka eventually overcame the pressure.

The defending champions reached 115 for 6 in 19.2 overs, completing a four-wicket victory.

Sri Lanka Top Group B

The victory means Sri Lanka Women have qualified for the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 as the Group B table toppers, finishing the group stage with three wins.

The defending champions will now turn their attention to the knockout stage as they continue their bid to retain the Asia Cup title.
