Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan and stay alive in competition

Sri Lanka registered 6 wickets win over Afghanistan, in 32nd T20I of the T20I World Cup at the Brisbane on Tuesday. Afghanistan Captain Mohammad Nabi won the coin toss and elected to bat first.

After the winning the toss, Afghanistan made 144 runs for lost of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Afghanistan had a solid start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Usman Ghani. Both added 42 runs for the 1st wickets. Gurbaz scored 28 runs. However Sri Lankan bowlers able to put pressure on Afghanistan batsmen and they to wickets regularly. Usman Ghani and Ibrahim Zadran scored 27 and 22 respectively. But no one able to play a big innings. For Sri Lanka Wanindu Hasaranga claimed 3 wickets for 13 runs. 

In reply that Sri Lanka manage to chased down the target successfully with in 18.3 overs. Sri Lanka scored 148 runs for lost of 4 wickets and claimed crucial win and stay alive in competition.  Sri Lanka hasn’t had good start once again. They lost pathum nissanka early, when the score at 12 runs. 34 runs later Sri Lanka lost Kusal Mendis for 25 runs as their 2nd wicket. After that Charith Asalanka joined with Dhananjaya de Silva and made 54 runs partnership and set the platform for the victory.  Charith Asalanka dismissed for 19 runs. After the dismissed of Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa came to the middle and added 42 runs with Dhananjaya de Silva. Dhananjaya de Silva was the top scorer with an unbeaten 66 runs. For Afghanistan Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed 2 wickets each.
