India qualify for the World Cup final.

India registered a 70-run win over New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, India put a huge total on the board and scored 397 runs for a loss of 4 wickets in their 50 overs. Indian opener off to a flying start and made a 71-run partnership for the 1st wicket. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs in just 29 balls. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 117 runs and completed his 50th hundred in ODI matches. Shreyas Iyer scored 105 runs. After the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav, opening batter Shubman Gill came out to bat, who went off the field with an injury while batting and scored an unbeaten 80 runs, while KL Rahul contributed with an unbeaten 39 runs.

In reply to that, New Zealand bowled out 327 runs in 48.5 overs. New Zealand lost both of their openers early. After that, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell made an 181-run partnership for the third wicket. Kane Williamson scored 69 runs, while Glenn Phillips scored 41 runs. Daryl Mitchell was the top scorer with 134 runs. For India, Mohammed Shami claimed seven wickets for 57 runs.

With that win, India progressed to the final of the 2023 World Cup.
