Wanindu Hasaranga ruled LPL 2023 and created history

B-Love Kandy registered a 5-wicket win over Dambulla Aura in the final of the Lanka Premier League 2023 on Sunday at R. Pramadasa Stadium in Colombo. With that win, B-Love Kandy cliched the title.

B-Love Kandy and their skipper, Sri Lankan superstar all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, had a wonderful tournament this season. While B-Love Kandy was crowned the champions of the Lanka Premier League, their captain was awarded the player of the tournament for his valuable contribution with the bat and ball.

All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was the leading run scorer of the tournament with 279 runs, and he was the highest wicket taker in this tournament with 19 wickets. This is the first time a single player has become the leading wicket taker and the leading run scorer in a single tournament. Also, he became the highest run scorer as a captain in LPL history.

Wanindu Hasaranga maintained a healthy batting strike rate throughout the tournament, with 189.80, and has the best strike rate in the Sri Lanka Premier League 2023. Also, he has hit the most sixes in the tournament with 14 sixes. Wanindu Hasaranga scored the fastest fifty of the Sri Lanka Premier League 2023. He scored 50 runs in 18 balls.
