Sri Lanka’s chances to directly qualify for the Cricket World Cup

At the end of the ODI series between South Africa and England, South Africa surpasses Sri Lanka and moves up to the 9th spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League Standings. South Africa won the first two games of the series and gained 20 points; however, they lost the third ODI and lost 1 point due to a slow over rate.

The top eight teams will be able to qualify directly for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India. South Africa is ninth in the standings with 78 points, while Sri Lanka has dropped one spot to tenth. With 88 points, West Indies is ranked eighth.

West Indies to direct qualify for Cricket World Cup

West Indies are currently in 8th place with 88 points, and if West Indies want to directly qualify for the Cricket World Cup, they have to wait for Sri Lanka and South Africa to finish their remaining matches. If South Africa and Sri Lanka lose their remaining matches, the West Indies will qualify for the Cricket World Cup.

South Africa to direct qualify for Cricket World Cup

South Africa is ranked ninth with 78 points. They have two matches against the Netherlands in March. They will qualify for the Cricket World Cup if they win their remaining two matches against the Netherlands.

Sri Lanka to direct qualify for Cricket World Cup

Sri Lanka is currently in 10th place in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League Standings with 77 points. Sri Lanka has three matches against New Zealand to play. If Sri Lanka wins their remaining three matches, they will automatically qualify for the Cricket World Cup. If Sri Lanka loses one match in the remaining matches, they have to wait for the results of the ODI series between South Africa and the Netherlands.
