Shammi Silva asked to check the stats, So we did

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board hosted a press conference to explain the current situation of Sri Lankan cricket. During the media briefing, President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Shammi Silva, said that Sri Lanka have played 25 matches and won 14 matches during the last 3 years while he was answering the question asked by the journalist.

Is that true? We decided to check the statistics of Sri Lankan cricket, as Shammi Silva said.

Sri Lanka have played 57 one-day international matches during the last three years and they have won 26 matches.

Perhaps he told about the competitions he participated in this year. That is why we will consider the number of one-day matches played by Sri Lanka in this year.

Sri Lanka have played 31 ODIs, won 16 matches, and lost 15 matches in 2023. Those 16 wins included 3 wins against Afghanistan and the Netherlands, 2 wins against Bangladesh, and 1 win against the UAE, Oman, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Scotland. When we consider these stats, Sri Lanka’s most of wins came against non-Test-playing nations.

Here is a full list of Sri Lanka’s results in ODI matches during the last three years.
