On this day in 2005, Muttiah Muralitharan passed 1000 runs in  Test matches. He has scored 1261 runs in 164 innings.

On this day in 2011, Rangana Herath reached 100 wickets milestone in Test matches. At the end of his Test career he claimed 433 wickets in 93 Test matches.
