On This Day in 2021, Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana made his debut in ODI matches. He played his maiden ODI match against South Africa at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Theekshana struck with his first ball in international cricket and took the wicket of Janneman Malan. He registered the fifth-best figures in an innings on debut for Sri Lanka with 4 wickets for 37 runs.
