Before the match between Sri Lanka and England, Sri Lanka’s most experienced and former captain, Angelo Mathews, joined the pre-match media conference and expressed his thoughts about his role in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
“Mostly our top order was sattled, so wherever the team wants me, wherever the captain and coach want me to bat, I will bat.” Angelo Mathews said “It looks like I will bat in the middle order. Position doesn’t matter as long as I can contribute in whatever way possible towards the winning cause. I am not bothered by the personal milestone.” He added.
Also, Angelo Mathews said that he was ready to bowl some overs as well. “If the captain gives me the ball, obviously I will bowl.” Mathews said. “I prepared myself to bowl some overs as well. If I can bowl, I can give the skipper an advantage when choosing the team. I will try to contribute in whatever way is possible.” Angelo Mathews explained his role on the team.
