#OnThisDay – March 27 : Romesh Kaluwitharana scored his highest score in ODI matches

On This Day in 2001, Sri Lankan wicket Keeper batsman Romesh Kaluwitharana scored his highest score in ODI. He scored an unbeaten 102 runs in 3rd ODI against England at SSC.

Sri Lankan captain Marvan Atapattu Won the toss and elected to field first. England manage to score 165 runs for lost of 9 wickets in their 50 overs. For England, it was Graeme Hick, who was the top scorer with 46 runs. While in the bowling department Chaminda Vaas claimed 3 wickets for just 13 runs.

In reply that Sri Lanka scored 166 runs in 33.5 overs without losing a wicket and it claimed 10 wicket win for Sri Lanka. Romesh Kaluwitharana made his 2nd ODI hundred and score 102 runs not out and was well supported by skipper Marvan Atapattu, who scored an unbeaten 53 runs.
