On This Day in 2011, 10th ICC Cricket World cup final was played between Sri Lanka and India at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai and India Became the Champions.

  • India Won the World Cup for the 2nd Time

Final was played between Sri Lanka and India. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 274 runs for lost of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. In reply that India manage to score 277 runs for lost of 4 wickets in 48.2 overs and it claimed 6 wickets victory for the Team India.


  • Mahela Jayawardene Create a History

Sri Lankan Legend Mahela Jayawardene became the Only Batman to score a hundreds in both a semi final and a final of the ICC Cricket World Cup Tournament.

In 2011 – Final vs India :- 103*


  • Muttiah Muralitharan made his last appearance in ODI matches

Sri Lankan Legend Muttiah Muralitharan made played his last ODI and retired from ODI matches. He played 350 ODI matches and took 534 wickets (Most Wickets in One – Day Internationals) in ODI matches
