India won the series 3-0

India registered a 90-run win over New Zealand in the 3rd and final ODI of the series on Tuesday at Indore. New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.

After losing the toss, India got off to a flying start with 212 runs in their opening stand with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 101 runs, and Shubman Gill made 112 runs. After a solid start, India lost a few wickets in quick succession. However, Hardik Pandya scored 54 runs on 38 balls. Eventually, India manages to score 385 runs for a loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs.

In response, New Zealand were dismissed for 295 runs in 41.2 overs. New Zealand’s first wicket fell in the second ball of their innings. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls then put on a 106-run partnership for the second wicket to rebuild the innings. Henry Nicholls made 42 runs. Devon Conway was the top scorer with 138 runs. Mitchell Santner scored 34 runs. New Zealand maintained a good run rate, but they lost wickets at regular intervals. For India, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur claimed three wickets each.

With that win, India clinched the series, and they became the top team in the ODI rankings.
