Glenn Phillips took the game away from Sri Lanka

New Zealand registered 65 runs win over Sri Lanka, in 27th T20I of the T20I World Cup at the Sydney on Saturday. New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson won the coin toss and elected to bat first.

After winning the toss New Zealand posed a competitive target against Sri Lanka. They made 167 runs for lost of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Sri Lanka got a fantastic start with the ball and took 3 early wickets. Sri Lankan bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on New Zealand. After that Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips made 84 runs partnership for the 4th wicket and set the platform for New Zealand. Daryl Mitchell scored 22 runs. However at the score of 30 Pathum Nissanka has dropped Glenn Phillips on 12. Phillips grab that opportunity with both hand and scored 104 runs and took the game away from Sri Lanka. For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha made a good come back after a while and took 2 wickets for 23 runs.

In reply that Sri Lanka bowled out for 102 runs in 19.2 overs. New Zealand fast bowlers destroyed the Sri Lanka top order and they lost 4 wickets in 4 overs. Sri Lanka lost wickets regular intervals and couldn’t able to build the partnership. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 34 runs in 22 balls. Skipper Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer with 35 runs. For New Zealand Trent Boult claimed 4 wickets.
