England win Stuart Broad’s last Test match

England registered a 49-run win over Australia in the 5th Test of the Ashes, 2023, on Monday at Kennington Oval in London. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the coin toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, England was bowled out for 283 runs in their first innings. Harry Brook was the top scorer for England with 85 runs, and Ben Duckett scored 41 runs. Chris Woakes contributed 36 runs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc claimed four wickets.

In reply, Australia were bundled out for 295 runs in their first innings. Steven Smith scored 71 runs, while Usman Khawaja contributed 47 runs. Skipper Pat Cummins scored 36 runs, and Todd Murphy scored a quick 34 runs with 3 sixes and 2 fours. For England, Chris Woakes picked up three wickets.

England started their second innings 12 runs behind, and they scored 395 runs in their second innings. Jonny Bairstow scored 78 runs, and Zak Crawley scored 73 runs. Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes scored 42 runs each. Joe Root was the top scorer with 91 runs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc and Todd Murphy took four wickets each.

Australia came out to bat to chase down the target of 384 runs to win the 5th Test. However, England restricted Australia to 334 runs on the final day of the Test match. Australia got off to a solid start, and David Warner and Usman Khawaja made a 140-run partnership for the first wicket. Usman Khawaja scored 72 runs, and David Warner scored 60 runs. Steven Smith contributed 54 runs. For England, Chris Woakes claimed four wickets.
