Easy win for India
India registered a five-wicket win over the West Indies in the first ODI of the series at Barbados on Thursday. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After losing the toss, the West Indies were bowled out for 114 runs in 23 overs. The West Indies lost Kyle Mayers pretty early, and he was dismissed for two runs. After the dismissal of Mayers, Alick Athanaze joined with Brandon King and added 38 runs for the 2nd wicket until Alick Athanaze departs for 22 runs. In the very next over, Brandon King was clean bowled by Thakur for 17 runs. After that, Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope made a 43-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Hetmyer was dismissed for 11 runs. After that, the West Indies lost their way, and they were bowled out for 114 runs. For India, Kuldeep Yadav claimed four wickets.
In reply, India chased down the target successfully and scored 118 runs for the loss of five wickets. India changed their batting lineup, and Sharma and Kohli batted down the order. Ishan Kishan was the top scorer with 52 runs, and Suryakumar Yadav scored 19 runs. Ravindra Jadeja contributed with an unbeaten 16 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma batted down the order and scored an unbeaten 12 runs. India’s most experienced batter, Virat Kohli, didn’t come out to bat.
