Colombo Stars beat Galle Gladiators
The Colombo Stars registered a two-wicket win over the Galle Gladiators in the 12th match of the Lanka Premier League on Tuesday at Pallekele. The Colombo Stars captain, Angelo Mathews, won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.
After losing the toss, the Galle Gladiators scored 193 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Kusal Mendis was the top scorer with 72 runs, and Asad Shafiq scored 58 runs. Both Kusal Mendis and Asad Shafiq made 88 runs for the third wicket.
In reply, the Colombo Stars chased down the target in the final ball of the inning. Colombo Stars made 197 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Dinesh Chandimal was the top scorer with 63 runs. Charith Asalanka made 46 runs in 38 balls. Ravi Bopara played a match-winning knock in the back end of the inning and scored an unbeaten 31 runs in 12 balls.
