Colombo Lost the match but Angelo Mathews won the heart

The Jaffna Kings registered a 6-run win over the Colombo Stars in the 10th match of the Lanka Premier League on Monday at Pallekele. The Colombo Stars captain, Angelo Mathews, won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.

Jaffna Kings scored 178 runs for the loss of five wickets after losing the toss. Everyone chipped in with runs in the 20s and 30s. Shoaib Malik was the top scorer with an unbeaten 35 runs, and skipper Thisara Perera scored 29 runs in 13 balls.

In response, Colombo Stars scored 172 runs and lost 8 wickets in 20 overs. Colombo hasn’t had a good start. They lost wickets regularly. But Angelo Mathews and Benny Howell made a 90-run partnership for the 8th wicket and kept hopes alive. Benny Howell scored 43 runs in just 20 balls. Angelo Mathews fought until the bitter end, as he always did. Angelo Mathews scored an unbeaten 73 runs in 38 balls. Finally, they were only six runs short of the target.
