Babar Azam step down as Captaincy

After his early exit from the ICC Men’s World Cup, 29-year-old Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam has stepped down as Pakistan captain in all formats. Babar Azam said that he will continue to play for Pakistan as a player in all three formats and hopes to give his support to the new captain.

In 2019, Babar Azam was named as the captain of the Pakistan team. Since then, he has led the team in 143 matches across all three formats. Pakistan registered 5th place in the ongoing World Cup with 4 wins in the nine matches that they played.

Under his captaincy, Pakistan moved to the top of the ODI team rankings, and they reached the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2022 Asia Cup.
