Avishka and Gurbaz took the game away from Dambulla

The Jaffna Kings registered a 51-run win over the Dambulla Aura in the 8th match of the Lanka Premier League on Sunday at Pallekele. The Dambulla Aura captain, Dasun Shanaka, won the coin toss and elected to bat first.

After losing the toss, Jaffna Kings scored 240 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. It’s recorded as the highest total in Lanka Premier League history. Both Avishka Fernando and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made 133-run partnerships for the first wicket, setting the platform for the record total. Avishka Fernando scored 54 runs. Gurbaz was the top scorer with 73 runs. Sadeera Samarawickrama contributed 38 runs in the back end of the inning.

In reply, Dambulla Aura scored 189 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer with 44 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 38 runs. Binura Fernando took four wickets for the Jaffna Kings.
