Afghanistan registered a historical win over England

Afghanistan registered a historical 69-run win over Sri Lanka in the 13th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

After losing the toss, Afghanistan bowled out 284 runs in 49.5 overs. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were off to a flying start, with 114 runs in the first wicket. Gurbaz was the main contributor, and he scored 80 runs. However, after that, England came back strongly and took the wickets at regular intervals. At the back end of the inning, Ikram Alikhil scored 58 runs and built the partnership with the tailerenders. Rashid Khan scored 23 runs, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman contributed 28 runs. 

In reply to that, England was boundled out for 215 runs in 40.3 overs. The Afghanistan bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on the England batters. Harry Brook was the only successful batsman, and he scored 66 runs. Dawid Malan scored 32 runs, and Adil Rashid scored 20 runs. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed three wickets each.
