Brothers in Sri Lankan Cricket
In Sri Lankan cricket history, a number of famous cricketing brothers have represented the Sri Lanka national team in the past few years. When we think of Sri Lankan cricket history, the Wettimuny Brothers and Ranatunga Brothers come to mind.
However, after a while, we can see brothers representing the Sri Lanka national team. Nawanidu Fernando, who made his international debut during the 2nd ODI between Sri Lanka and India at Kolkata recently, is the brother of Sri Lankan fast bowler Vishwas Fernando, along with two all-rounders from down south, Chathuranga de Silva and Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, who are currently part of the Sri Lanka setup.

Pinnaduwage Chaturanga de Silva, who was known as Chathuranga de Silva, made his ODI debut in 2014 and played seven matches. He has scored 94 runs and taken five wickets. He was a member of the Sri Lanka team that won the Asia Cup in 2014. His brother Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, who was known as Wanindu Hasaranga, made his international debut in 2017 and is currently the vice captain of Sri Lanka’s T20I side.
Fernando Brothers
Muthuthanthrige Vishwa Thilina Fernando, also known as the Vishwa Fernando, made his international debut in 2016 and has appeared in 17 Tests since then. He has claimed 43 wickets in Test matches. His brother Muthuthanthirige Nuwanidu Keshawa Fernando who known as the Nuwanidu Fernando made his debut recently in 2nd ODI between Sri Lanka and India. He scored 50 runs on his debut and made a valuable contribution in his first appearance.
