15 Years old Sashini Gimhani called up for the squad T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2024

Sri Lanka Cricket announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2024. At the end of the Sri Lanka women’s team tour in South Africa, the team will reach Abu Dhabi directly.

Chamari Athapaththu leads the side with some experienced players like Inoka Ranaweera, Anushka Sanjeewani, and Harshitha Samarawickrama. 15-year-old under-19 player Sashini Gimhani called up for the squad.

Chamari Athapaththu – Captain, Vishmi Gunaratne, Nilakshi de Silva, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kavisha Dilhari, Hasini Perera, Anushka Sanjeewani, Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoka Ranaweera, Achini Kulasuriya, Hansima Karunaratne, Kawya Kavindi, Inoshi Fernando, Sugandika Kumari, Sashini Gimhani

 

The tournament will begin on April 25th. Ten teams will take part in the tournament and play in two groups of five. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, and the two finalists will qualify for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in September.

Sri Lanka is included in Group A, and they will play against Scotland, Thailand, Uganda, and the United States in the group stage matches. Sri Lanka will play against Thailand in the opening match of the tournament on April 25 at the Tolerance Oval.
