Zampa and Cummins helped Australia pull up a great win over England
Australia registered a comfortable 36-run win over defending champions England in the 17th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After losing the toss, Australia made a huge total and scored 201 runs for a loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Australia were off to a flying start and made a 70-run partnership for the first wicket. David Warner scored 39 runs, and Travis Head scored 34 runs. Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis contributed with 35 and 30 runs, respectively.
In reply to that, England managed to score 165 runs for a loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. England were off to a solid start and made a 73-run partnership for the first wicket. Philip Salt scored 37 runs, and Jos Buttler scored 42 runs. However, England lost momentum and lost the wicket at regular intervals. Moeen Ali scored 25 runs, and Harry Brook scored an unbeaten 20 runs. For Australia, Adam Zampa and Pat Cummins chipped in with two wickets each.
