We have a pretty good side with experience, I am very confident about my players – Dasun Shanaka
Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka joined the pre-match press conference before the start of the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the Asia Cup and expressed his thoughts on their first match.
During the press conference, Dasun Shanaka mentioned a few of their key players who were injured just before the Asia Cup. “We are unfortunate to have missed out on Hasaranga, Chameera, Dilshan, and Madushanka, but still, we have a pretty good side with experience. I am very confident about my players,” Dasun Shanaka said.
The 16th edition of the ACC Asia Cup will be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Sri Lanka will play one match at home and the other in Pakistan. If Sri Lanka manages to qualify for the Super Six stage, they will play their Super Six stage matches in Sri Lanka. Skipper Dasun Shanka talked about their home advantage in the Asia Cup. “We are playing in our own backyard, and there is sort of a home advantage with us, but it totally depends on the day’s performance. Dasun Shanaka said. “Last time we went as underdogs, but still we managed to clinch the trophy, he added.
Both Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka and Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan played for Galle Titans in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League. When the journalist asked about it, Shanka said that it was an advantage to play with Shakib Al Hasan during the Lanka Premier League. Even though we play on the same team, we don’t share more things about the national side, especially ahead of big tournaments like the Asia Cup. Shanaka extends his explanation.
