We did not get the money that Mohammad Siraj said – Curator Godfrey Dabarera

India registered a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the final match of the ACC Asia Cup on October 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka batted first, and they were bowled out for 50 runs in 15.2 overs. Mohammed Siraj destroyed the Sri Lanka innings and claimed six wickets for 21 runs. In reply to that, India chased down the target successfully and scored 51 runs in 6.1 overs without losing a wicket. Mohammed Siraj was named the player of the match for his bowling performance.

At the end of the ACC Asia Cup 2023 final, Mohammed Siraj dedicated his Player of the Match prize money of $5000 to the ground staff of Colombo. “This cash prize goes to the groundsmen. This tournament wouldn’t have been possible without them,” Mohammed Siraj said during the post-match presentation.

However, after a week, the curator of the R. Premadasa Stadium, Godfrey Dabarera, said that, even though Mohammed Siraj said that he would dedicate his Player of the Match prize money to the ground staff, they haven’t received it yet. He said that during the interview with international commentator Roshan Abeysinghe on local television.
