Sydney Thunder win the first match of BBL2022

The Sydney Thunder registered a one-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars in the first match of the  Big Bash League on Tuesday at Canberra. The Sydney Thunder captain, Jason Sangha, won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.

After losing the toss, the Melbourne Stars scored 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Nick Larkin was the top scorer with 25 runs. Other than that, no one has been able to cross the 20-run mark. Joe Burns scored 18 runs. Daniel Sams, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Gurinder Sandhu claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Sydney Thunder chased down the target in the last of the innings. In 20 overs, they scored 123 runs for the loss of nine wickets.Alex Ross was the top scorer with 28 runs, and Jason Sangha contributed with 24 runs. Gurinder Sandhu won the player of the match award for his crusial unbeaten 20 runs.
