Sri Lanka creates history

Sri Lanka registered a comfortable 110-run win over India in the 3rd and final ODI of the series at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka won the coin toss and elected to bat first.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka scored 248 runs for a loss of 7 wickets in their 50 overs. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando got off to a solid start and made an 89-run partnership for the first wicket. Pathum Nissanka scored 45 runs. After that, Kusal Mendis joined Avishka Fernando and added 82 runs for the second wicket. Avishka Fernando was dismissed for 96 runs. After that, Sri Lanka lost momentum and lost wickets at regular intervals. However, Kusal Mendis scored 59 runs, and Kamindu Mendis scored an unbeaten 23 runs.

In reply to that, India bowled out 138 runs in 26.1 overs. India were off to a flying start and made 37 runs in 4 overs. However, after that, India lost their way and lost wickets at regullary. Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 35 runs, and Virat Kohli scored 20 runs. At the back end of the inning, Riyan Parag scored 15 runs, and Washington Sundar scored 30 runs. For Sri Lanka, Dunith Wellalage was the star with the ball and claimed 5 wickets, while Jeffrey Vandersay and Maheesh Theekshana chipped in with 2 wickets.

With that win, Sri Lanka won the ODI series against India, and this is the first time they have beaten India in a bilateral ODI series since 1997.
