Sri Lanka “A” and Afghanistan “A” registered wins in Emerging Teams Asia Cup
Sri Lanka’s “A” Team and Afghanistan’s “A” team registered wins over Bangladesh “A” and Oman A,” respectively, on the first day of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023.
Sri Lanka “A” won by 48 runs over Bangladesh ”A” in the first match of the tournament on Thursday at Colombo. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 349 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. Avishka Fernando was the top scorer with 133 runs, and Minod Bhanuka scored 57 runs. In reply, Bangladesh A was bowled out for 301 runs in 48.3 overs. Saif Hassan scored 53 runs, while Mohammad Naim contributed 51 runs. For Sri Lanka, Pramod Madushan and Dushan Hemantha claimed three wickets each.
Afghanistan “A” registered a 72-run win over Oman “A” in the second match of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. The match was reduced to 49 overs per Side due to a wet outfield. Afghanistan “A” batted first and scored 267 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 49 overs. Zubaid Akbari scored 79 runs, and Skipper Shahidullah Kamal scored 45 runs. In reply that Oman “A” bowled out for 195 runs in 40.3 overs. Ayaan Khan and Shoaib Khan scored 47 runs each.
