Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the captain of India in the Asian Games
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a 15-member men’s and women’s squad for the 19th Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou from September 19 to October 8.The BCCI named Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain of the men’s team, and Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the women’s team in the Asian Games.
Sri Lanka won the Gold medal in 2014 while Afghanistan won the Silver. Bangladesh won the Bronze medal. India skipped the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games in Cricket. This is the first time that India has taken part in the Asian Games in cricket, and the BCCI decided to send their second-string men’s side to Hangzhou.
