Retired players likely to be recalled to the T20I side

Sri Lankan newspaper “Deshaya” reported that a new selection committee has decided to bring back six senior players, including Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana, and Dinesh Chandimal, to the Sri Lanka T20I side ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is held in the USA. According to the report, they called them “Mathews’s Genaration” players. The report says that the T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in June next year, and it’s better to go with senior players.

A few years ago, the Sri Lankan selection committee decided to build the team with young players. With that decision, some senior players announced their retirement from international cricket.
