Rain washed out Sri Lanka’s victory
The 2nd ODI between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan ended up with no result due to the rain on Sunday at Pallekele. Afghanistan Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the coin toss and elected to bat first.
After winning the toss, Afghanistan went all out for 228 runs in 48.2 overs. Centurion in the 1st ODI, Ibrahim Zadran was dismissed early. But after that dismissal, Rahmat Shah joined Rahmanullah Gurbaz and they made a 113-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top scorer with 68 runs. Rahmat Shah made 58 runs. After that, Sri Lanka came back strongly and took wickets regularly. For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha took three wickets.
After that, the match was interrupted from time to time by rain, and only 2.4 overs could be bowled in the second innings. Accordingly, the match ended with no results.
