Pakistan squad for the upcoming Asia Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan and a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023. This is the first squad that was picked by Pkaistan’s new chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Pakistan regular captain Babar Azam was named captain of the side for both series. Babar Azam led Pakistan in the last Asia Cup, and they became the runner-up in 2022. Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf returned to the side after more than 2 years, while Shan Masood dropped from the squad. Pakistan Middle Order Batter Saud Shakeel is named only in the Afghanistan series, which will get under way on August 22 in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan squad: Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (captain), Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Tayyab Tahir, Saud Shakeel (only for Afghanistan series), Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Haris, Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi.
