New Zealand Women registered a massive win over home side

New Zealand Women registered a massive 111-run win over Sri Lanka Women’s in the 2nd ODI of the series on Friday at Galle. New Zealand women’s captain Sophie Devine won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, the New Zealand women put a huge total on board against the home side and scored 329 runs for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. The White Frens lost their most experienced batter very early for just one run when the score was 7. However, Bernadine Bezuidenhout and Melie Kerr rebuilt the innings and made a 50-run partnership for the second wicket. Bernadine Bezuidenhout scored 25 runs. After that, Melie Kerr and captain Sophie Devine added 229 runs for the third wicket. Sophie Devine was the top scorer with 137 runs, and Melie Kerr scored 108 runs. For Sri Lanka, Oshadhi Ranasinghe claimed three wickets.

In reply, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 218 runs in 48.4 overs. Sri Lanka lost its top order cheaply. However, Kavisha Dilhari batted with the low order batters and added some valuable runs to the total. Kavisha Dilhari scored her highest score in ODI matches with 84 runs. Anushka Sanjeewani made 17 runs, while Kawya Kavindi contributed 15 runs. For New Zealand, Lea Tahuhu claimed four wickets.

With that win, the New Zealand women leveled the series with 1-1
