Matheesha Pathirana surpasses Chaminda Vaas
Sri Lanka bundled out Bangladesh for just 164 runs in 42.4 overs in the second match of the Asia Cup on Thursday at Pallekele. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top scorer with 89 runs, while Towhid Hridoy contributed 20 runs. For Sri Lanka, Matheesha Pathirana claimed four wickets for 32 runs, and Maheesh Theekshana picked up two wickets.
With those four wickets young Matheesha Pathirana became the youngest Sri Lankan bowler to take four wickets in ODIs. He achieved that feat when he was 20 years and 256 days old. Previously, Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vaas held the record when, at 20 years and 280 days old, he claimed four wickets for 20 runs against Zimbabawe at Harare in 1994.
