Dunith Wellalage breaks the 22-year-old record

4th match of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup match between Sri Lanka and India Sri Lankan spinners were all over Indian batsmen, and they took wickets at regular intervals. For Sri Lanka, Youngster Dunith Wellalage was the star with the ball, and he claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in ODI matches. He took five wickets for 40 runs in his 10-over spell, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Dunith Wellalage’s maiden five-wicket haul registered him as the youngest Sri Lankan to take five wickets in an ODI match. He achieved that milestone when he was 20 years and 246 days old. Previously, Sri Lankan allrounder Charitha Buddhika held the record with 5 wickets for 67 runs against Zimbabwe at Sharjah when he was 21 years old.
