B-Love Kandy became the champions of LPL2023

B-Love Kandy registered a 5-wicket win over Dambulla Aura in the final of the Lanka Premier League 2023 on Sunday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Dambulla Aura captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, Dambulla Aura scored 147 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. Dhananjaya de Silva was the top scorer with 40 runs in 29 balls, and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 36 runs. Kusal Perera contributed with an unbeaten 31 runs. For B-Love Kandy, Chathuranga de Silva claimed two wickets for 25 runs in his four-over spell.

In reply to that, B-Love Kandy chased down the target successfully and scored 151 runs for the loss of five wickets in 19.5 overs. Kamindu Mendis and Mohammad Haris made a 49-run partnership for the first wicket and set the tone for the chase. Mohammad Haris scored 26 runs, and Kamindu Mendis scored 44 runs. Dinesh Chandimal contributed 24 runs, and Angelo Mathews scored an unbeaten 25 runs. For Dambulla, Aura picked up three wickets.

With that win, B-Love Kandy became the champions of the Lanka Premier League in 2023. Angelo Mathews was named the player of the final, while Wanindu Hasaranga was named the player of the tournament.
