Australia through to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Final
Australia Women defeated India Women by a run in the first semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Thursday in Cape Town.Australia captain Meg Lanning won the coin toss and elected to bat first.
After winning the toss, Australia Women posted 172 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Beth Mooney was the top scorer with 54 runs in 37 balls, while Meg Lanning contributed with an unbeaten 49 runs. Ashleigh Gardner scored 31 runs. For India, Shikha Pandey claimed two wickets.
In response, India scored 167 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets.Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was the top scorer with 52 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 43 runs. Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur added 69 runs for the fourth wicket.Deepti Sharma contributed with an unbeaten 20 runs. For Australia, Darcie Brown and Ashleigh Gardner claimed two wickets each.
With that win, Australia’s women qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final.
