Angelo Mathews equals TM Dilshan

Sri Lanka Cricket announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. Sri Lanka brought back their veteran Angelo Mathews to the T20 World Cup squad after 2016. However, Angelo Mathews wasn’t included in the last two T20 World Cup squads in 2021 and 2022.

This will be Mathews’ sixth T20 World Cup appearance since he made his T20 World Cup debut in 2009. With that, Angelo Mathews equals Sri Lankan legend TM Dilshan with the most T20 World Cup appearances by a Sri Lankan.

Angelo Mathews made his debut in T20 World Cup matches in 2009. He played in three T20 World Cup finals in 2009, 2012, and 2014. Also, he captained the Sri Lanka team in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
