A famous victory for Netherlands over South Africa

The Netherlands registered a historical 38-run win over South Africa in the 15th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bowl first. The match was reduced to 43 overs per side due to rain.

After losing the toss, the Netherlands scored 245 runs for a loss of 8 wickets in their 43 overs. The Netherlands hasn’t had a good start, and they lost half of their side pretty early. After that, Netherlands captain Scott Edwards played a gem of an inning and scored an unbeaten 78 runs. Tailerenders helped him make some valuable partnerships at the back end of the inning. Roelof van der Merwe scored 29 runs in 19 balls, and Aryan Dutt scored an unbeaten 23 runs in 9 balls.

In reply to that, South Africa bowled out 207 runs in 42.5 overs. South Africa lost their top order cheaply. David Miller was the top scorer with 43 runs, and Heinrich Klaasen scored 28 runs. At the back end of the inning, Keshav Maharaj scored 40 runs. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek claimed three wickets.

With that win, the Netherlands registered their third win in World Cup history and their first against a full-member nation.
