December 8: Chaminda Vaas’s record breaking bowling performance
On this day in 2001, Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vaas became the first Sri Lankan to take a hat-trick in ODI matches. He completed his hat trick against Zimbabwe at Singhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo, picking up Stuart Carlisle, Craig Wishart, and Tatenda Taibu in three consecutive deliveries.
On this day in 2001, Sri Lankan legendary fast bowler Chaminda Vaas registered the best bowling figures by a Sri Lankan in ODI matches. He claimed eight wickets for just 19 runs. This brilliant bowling performance helped Sri Lanka restrict Zimbabwe for 38 runs in 15.4 overs, which was the 4th lowest score in ODI history.
