Australia lifted the World Cup for the sixth time in history

Australia registered a six-wicket win over India in the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, India were off to a flying start, and they scored 30 runs for the first wicket. However, after that, Australia kept things tight and put pressure back on Indian batters. India lose wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs. After losing the three wickets early, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made a 67-run partnership for the 4th wicket until Kohli was dismissed for 54 runs. KL Rahul was the top scorer for India with 66 runs. Eventually, India bowled out 240 runs in their 50 overs. This is the first time that India is all out in this year’s World Cup.

In reply to that, Australia chased down the target successfully and scored 241 runs for a loss of 4 wickets in 43 overs. Australia were off to a sheaky start, losing three wickets within seven overs. However, after that, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne made a 192-run partnership for the 4th wicket and took the game away from India. Travis Head played a gem of an inning and scored 137 runs, while Marnus Labuschagne was well supported with an unbeaten 58 runs.

With that win, Australia lifted the World Cup for the sixth time in history.
