Sri Lankan players to play in the IPL Final
Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will meet in the Indian Premier League 2023 final on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Dasun Shanaka is included in the Gujarat Titans squad, while Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana represent the Chennai Super Kings. If those players are able to make the playing XI in their respective teams, it will be the first time that a Sri Lankan player will make the IPL final after 3 years. Chamara Kapugedara and Muthiah Muralidaran were the first Sri Lankans to play in the 2008 IPL final. Both played for the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural Indian Premier League. Since then, only 4 players have played in the IPL finals. Dilhara Fernando played for the Mumbai Indians in the 2010 IPL final along with his countryman Lasith Malinga.
