India registered a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup final at Wankhede Cricket Stadium. With that win, India became champions for the second time in the Cricket World Cup under Mahindra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy.
Indian skipper MS Dhoni hit a six to finish the game in style. After 12 years, the Mumbai Cricket Association honors Mahindra Singh Dhoni by earmarking the “Iconic Seat” at Wankhede, where the final ball of the 2011 Cricket World Cup landed.
Ahead of the match between the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni went to the place at Wankhede.
