Sri Lankan 22 years old Lasith Embuldeniya became the fourth Sri Lankan to take five wickets haul in Test debut. He achieved this milestone against South Africa in Durban. Lasith took 5 wickets for 66 runs.
Previously Three Sri Lankan have taken five wickets haul on Test debut against two different opponents.
Kosala Kuruppuarachchi was the first Sri Lankan to take a five wicket haul in Test debut. He claimed 5 wickets for 44 runs against Pakistan at Colombo in 1986.
In 1999, Upul Chandana became the second Sri Lankan to take five wicket haul in Test debut. He took 6 wickets for 179 runs against Pakistan at Dhaka during the Asian Test Championship.
Akila Dananjaya was the 3rd Sri Lankan to take a five wickets haul in Test debut. He took 5 wickets for 24 runs against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2018.
