Zimbabwe won the rain – shortened match and Level the series
Zimbabwean registered a convincing 7 wickets win over Afghanistan, in 4th ODI and Level the series 2-2, at the Harare on Friday. Afghanistan Captain Azghar Stanikzai won the coin toss, and elected to bat first.
Afghanistan were off to a poor start, They lost first 3 wickets with in 12 runs. After that Azghar Stanikzai and Hashmatullah Shahidi try to rebuild the Afghan innings, They added 29 runs for the 4th wicket , before Stanikzai fell for 19. After that Afghan middle order collapsed once again. No one able to reached 20 runs in Afghanistan inning. In the 32nd over match was stopped due to rain and play was interrupted for almost half an hour. When restart the match was reduced to 42 overs per side. However Afghanistan were bowled out for 111 runs in 38.5 overs.
Zimbabwe’s target was recalculated to 105 off 42 overs, according to Duckworth- Lewis method for a rain – shortened match. Zimbabwe were off to a steady start, with the openers contributing 79 opening runs, before Solomon Mire fell for 46.Tarisai Musakanda and Craig Ervine fell for single figures. However Peter Moor(36*) and Sean Williams(16*) guide Zimbabwe to 7 wickets victory against Afghanistan.
