Avishka and Ransika stars in Tri- Nation Under 19s Tournament in South Afirca
After 9 matches it was the all important final of the Tri- Nation Under 19s Tournament in South Africa. Sri Lanka Under 19 Team captain Avishka Fernando won the toss and elected to bat first at Paarl.
However Sri Lanka were bowled out for 156 runs in 44.5 overs. For Sri Lanka it was Ashen Bandara who was the top scorer with 33 runs, while in the bowling department, it was Ruan de Swardt, who claimed three-wickets for 30 runs. However Sri Lankan bowlers manage to defended that total successfully. South Africa all out for 79 runs in 32.4 over and it claimed respectable 77 runs win for Sri Lanka Under 19 team over South Africa Under 19 Team in the final. South Africa’s Jade de Klerk was the top scorer with just 16 runs. For Sri Lanka Nipun Ransik , who claimed 5 wickets for just 19 runs.
Sri Lanka, South Africa and Zimbabwe take part in this tournament. After 9 matches Sri Lanka Under 19 Team and South Africa Under 19 Team qualified for the final. All three teams played 6 matches each in the qualifying stage. South Africa Under 19 Team won 5 matches and Sri Lanka Under 19 team won 3 matches in qualifying stage. Zimbabwe team manage to win just one match in 6 matches they played.
