Punjab Kings begin the IPL campaign with a win

Punjab Kings registered a four-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the second match of the Indian Premier League 2024 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on Saturday. Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, the Delhi Capitals scored 174 runs for a loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. Shai Hope was the top scorer with 33 runs, and David Warner scored 29 runs. At the back end of the inning, Abishek Porel scored a quick, unbeaten 32 runs in just 10 balls. For the Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel chipped in with two wickets each.

In reply to that, the Punjab Kings chased down the target successfully and scored 177 runs for a loss of six wickets in 19.2 overs. Sam Curran was the star with the bat, scoring 63 runs, and Liam Livingstone scored an unbeaten 38 runs. Prabhsimran Singh contributed 26 runs. For the Punjab Kings, Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2 wickets for 20 runs.
