1996 Champions Sri Lanka will have to play in the World Cup qualifiers

New Zealand registered a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI of the series on Friday at Hamilton. Also, New Zealand clinched the series with a 2-0 score. With that loss against New Zealand, Sri Lanka will have to play in the World Cup qualifiers, which were held in Zimbabwe. This is the first time that the Sri Lanka team has to play in the World Cup qualifiers.

Ten teams will take part in the tournament, and two out of the ten teams will qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023. World Cup 2023 qualifiers will start from June 18 to July 9.

Sri Lanka won the ICC World Cup in 1996, and they were runners-up in 2007 and 2011.
