T20 World Cup: Sri Lanka lost to Namibia
Namibia registered 55 runs win over Sri Lanka , in the 1st match of the T20 World Cup at the Geelong on Sunday. This is the 1st time that Sri Lanka lost to Namibia. Sri Lanka captain Dasun Sahanaka won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.
Namibia hasn’t had a good start. They lost 2 wickets with in 3 overs for just 16 runs. Sri Lankan bowlers kept things tight. But JJ Smit and Jan Frylinck took the game away from Sri Lanka. Both added 70 runs partnership for the 7th wicket. Jan Frylinck was the top scorer with 44 runs in 28 balls. JJ Smit scored an unbeaten 31 runs in 16 balls.
In reply that Sri Lanka had a sloppy start and their top-order got out cheaply. Ben Shikongo bowled the 2 wickets maiden over and turn the game around. After that Namibian bowlers took wickets regular intervals and put pressure on Sri Lankan batsman. Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer with 29 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksha scored 20 runs. For Namibia Jan Frylinck, Ben Shikongo, David Wiese and Bernard Scholtz took 2 wickets each.
Eventually Sri Lanka bowled out for 108 runs in 19 overs and It clam 55 runs victory for Namibia.
